Trevi Fountain, down at the water

Trevi

Since February 2026 the steps and basin edge of the Trevi Fountain are ticketed for visitors, 9:00–22:00 (from 11:30 on Mondays and Fridays). The fee caps the numbers, so the edge is far calmer than it used to be.

Worth €2 if you want to toss the coin or take the photo without elbows. Pay by card at the entrance, cash is not taken there.

Cloister of St Paul Outside the Walls

Ostiense

The basilica is free, 7:00–18:30. The ticket is for its thirteenth-century cloister, with twisted columns inlaid with gold mosaic, and the small excavation area beside it, open 9:00–17:30.

One of the best medieval cloisters in Rome and almost nobody is in it. Take Metro B to Basilica San Paolo and see the papal portrait frieze inside the church first.

100-minute transit ticket

Citywide

One BIT ticket covers 100 minutes of buses and trams with changes, plus one metro ride. It is what gets you to the Appian Way on bus 118 or out to the aqueducts on Metro A.

Skip the day pass unless you ride five times. Tap a contactless card at the reader instead of hunting for a tobacconist, the fare is the same.
