About Freetripo

What this site is

Freetripo answers one question: what can I do in this city without paying?

Lists of free things are everywhere. Most of them stop at "free admission" and leave out the part that matters. A museum that is free on the first Friday of the month from 4 to 8pm, with a timed ticket, for residents, is not the same as a park that is open every day. We keep them apart.

How a listing works

Every place has the same card: what it is, when it is free, who it is free for, whether you need to book, how long it takes, how to get there and whether we think it is worth your time. Under it, the official source and the date we checked it.

Places are split in three groups. Always free: parks, viewpoints, neighborhoods, markets, churches. Free on certain days: mostly museums. Tip-based: free walking tours, where you pay the guide what you want at the end.

How the site is paid for

Freetripo links to booking partners for two things: free walking tours booked through Civitatis, and one paid recommendation per city, at the bottom of the page and marked as paid.

Nothing paid ever goes into the free lists. No attraction pays to be listed.

Found a mistake?

Free hours change, sometimes without notice. If you found a ticket desk charging where we said it was free, write to contact@freetripo.com and tell us the place and the date. We will check the official source and fix the page.
