Free things to do in Berlin in winter

Official sources checked Oct 5, 2026

December to February is dark by 16:30 and often below zero, so this is museum season, and Berlin's free ones are indoors and heated: the Topography of Terror until 20:00, the Jewish Museum, the Futurium. The Tempelhofer Feld shuts at 17:00. Christmas markets open in late November and most cost nothing to enter. Many memorial museums close from 24 to 26 December.
