Free things to do in Los Angeles in winter

Official sources checked Oct 4, 2026

December to February brings mild days in the 60s°F, cold nights and nearly all of the year's rain. Every museum on this page is indoors and open. The morning after a storm is the clearest of the year: go up to Griffith Observatory or Baldwin Hills and you can see snow on the San Gabriels. Skip the beach except for sunset, around 5 pm.
